Event: Derren Lawford at Latimer Talks
On Thursday 27th March, Derren Lawford, London Live commissioner and former BBC Worldwide exec, will meet with some of the UK’s most talented young filmmakers and aspiring actors at Latimer Talks. The event, organised by award-winning youth engagement agency Latimer Group and promoted solely through social media, will see Lawford engage with a packed room of budding filmmaking talent, just days before the launch of the Evening Standard’s London focused TV channel, London Live.
Lawford will also be using the opportunity to preview a variety of content to be broadcast on the London Live channel, including ‘Trap Town’, a collaborative production between YouTube star, Sebastian Thiel, award winning director Penny Woolcock and Latimer Films.
“Latimer are at the forefront of an emerging, underground scene that is bringing together the freshest UK creative talent with the very best industry professionals in order to develop and deliver engaging content as well as connecting top creative talent across London with the biggest names in the business.” said Matthew Hay, Director at Latimer Group. “The story of Derren’s rise to the top will be a real inspiration for the youth talent that we see at Latimer every day and with Derren’s focus on London themed content, we’re expecting this to be one of our biggest Talks yet! Looking forward to it!”
Designed to connect top youth talent in the media space with industry professionals, the event will be a chance for the speakers to share their personal experiences and insights on the film industry with some of the most talented young filmmakers operating today. Having previously held roles as Head of Programming for Global iPlayer and as multi-platform commissioner for the BBC, Lawford will bring a wealth of experience and advice to those filmmakers developing their careers using non-traditional media channels online.
Thursday night’s event follows the enormous success of previous Talks including Sex and the City’s Kim Cattrall, CEO of Hammer Films, Simon Oakes, Channel 4 Commissioning Editor, Emma Cooper and last month’s event with Tim Story & William Packer, Producer & Director of ‘Ride Along’. The event will be held at Camden Collective (37, Camden High Street) with doors opening at 7:00pm.
