Five Signs You’re Ready to Build a Home
Many people consider building their own dream home one day rather than buying a house outright. It’s always fun to imagine what your ideal kitchen would be, or where you would put a pantry, or even if you have a swimming pool installed in the backyard. How do you know that it’s time to bring your dream home from your imagination into your reality? How can you be sure that you are really ready?
If you have considered your mortgage responsibilities, your insurance responsibilities, and the Council rates you may have to pay and even the measured building survey you would need to take before the build, then you might feel like you’re ready. We have five signs below that show you that you are ready to build a brand-new home.
- You are super ready for a new neighbourhood. When you are looking for a new home there are two things that people mainly consider: the home and the location. You are not always going to be able to find your ideal dream house in the location of your choice, so building a new house could be your option. If you find yourself living somewhere that you love but without the neighbourhood and community feel to go with it, and it just makes good sense to build somewhere you want to get that community feeling.
- You like to be in control. If you are living in a home that somebody else has built, you are living in somebody else’s ideal home. Sure, it may suit what you need, but you might find that living in the home makes you yearn even more for the one that you personally want. Living in an older, previously owned house means that they could be financial surprises along the way. Anybody can sell a home and tell you that it’s in good condition, and even your inspection could confirm that, but it’s always nice to make sure you are not going to have any financial shocks.
- You know the numbers. Despite the advantages, some people don’t consider buying a house because I think it’s going to be far too expensive. Did you know that that’s not always the case? When you are comparing the building and buying another house, you will see that it’s possible to build a completely new house for the same price as buying or renting a home that has already been built. Your jurisdiction may also give you grants as a first-time home builder – which gives you money off.
- You are not connecting with existing homes. This is a good one, because if you have been and seen 10 or 20 houses, but you don’t feel a connection or love for any of them, and it makes sense to go your own way.
- You are realistic. You know that your home is not going to be built overnight and that it will be a process. If you are ready for this step, then you will be happy to wait.
