Game Review: GRID Autosport
If you’re looking for an uncompromising driving challenge, you’ll like GRID Autosport. This is a game that asks the player: what kind of racing driver do you want to be GRID: Autosport is about the cars, the tracks, and the opponents, and offers a lot of choice for the Player.
Grid Autosport certainly doesn’t skimp when it comes to delivering traditional motorsport thrills. When it comes to the racing, though, there’s no holding back. This is a game where competition is felt throughout. There is plenty to do on Grid Autosport, and much of it is geared towards the junkie Motorsports enthusiast who won’t be able to get enough of the game-play.
Autosport’s brings a large range of events, giving you plenty of options for players. Touring car events, street races, night time endurance slogs, time trial runs, and showboating drift sessions are all here for the players to experience. The career mode is structured in an exciting way, with a selection of different race types which gives the opportunity for players to experience a range of different races. Grid Autosport promised proper motor racing, and that’s exactly what it delivers as well as being very impressive visually.
GRID differentiates itself from similar racing games by getting rid of car modification & paint respraying and instead focusing all its attention on the tracks and races.
Codemasters has unveiled its plan for Grid Autosport downloadable content. The extra content will be added to the racing game over the next few months. Three car packs will be released: Best of British; Coupe Style; and Road & Track. And three mini-expansions are in the works, each built around a theme: Sprint Pack; Touring Car Legends Pack; and Drag Racing Pack. Each mini-expansion includes a new single-player championship alongside new tracks, routes and cars.
All DLC is currently scheduled to be released before October 2014. A £23.99 season pass is available for the PlayStation 3 versions of the game, but not for the Xbox 360 version. The first downloadable content for the console version of Grid Autosport has now been released. The £2.39 Boost Pack increases experience point gained in career mode, more XP, vehicle XP and in-game cash when you race online, according to its description on the Xbox Marketplace.
