Louise Gray for Topshop Launched
Topshop Makeup has taken a leap and plunged into the realm of designer collaboration with Louise Gray, a Scottish Central Saint Martins graduate. Alongside the makeup range, she has designed a six-piece capsule collection of crazy, bright disco-wear, which, she declares, she designed ‘to go dancing in’.
Dance in them you will. Gray is infamous for her vibrant catwalk shows and loyal followers will not be disappointed when they see her newest range for Topshop. The collection is the perfect blend of being loose and laid back in fit, perfect for feeling comfortable on those sticky club nights, while being quite the opposite in colour and fabric. Zig-zags, dots, and geometric shapes inhabit the garments, which are all entirely adorned in light-reflecting sequins.
The makeup range is similarly outlandish and is modeled by Gray herself, who manages to pull off the quirky blue-eyebrow look with all the fashion credibility of a true designer. There is a range of different products, including ‘glitter pots in Peacock’, eye palettes in pop art colours, and a lipstick in ‘Mexican Wave’, all of which can be stored in her more feminine, understated makeup bags.
Gray describes her ideal client as ‘someone who is fun’ and the collection epitomizes this mantra. Will the average Topshop consumer appreciate her sense of carefree frivolity, and, indeed, style? I think so. Perhaps they won’t be painting their eyebrows blue and mixing up the makeup colours so outrageously, but Gray will certainly be lighting up dance floors across the country.
