Pirates Of The Caribbean 5: What We Know
Two years ago, Pirates of the Caribbean On Strangers Tides sailed into our cinemas. It received mixed reviews from critics but was a smash hit at the box office, earning over one billion dollars and making it the 12th highest grossing film of all time! So it was only a matter of time until we heard that Disney and Johnny Depp would be putting Captain Jack back onto the big screen!
Details have emerged telling us that production for the film will start on January 2014 giving the film a 2015 release date. This would have been sooner if it wasn’t for Depp filming The Lone Ranger, which comes to cinemas August 9th in the UK.
Disney have confirmed that neither Gore Verbinski or Rob Marshall will be directing the fifth instalment, but it will be the directors of the Oscar nominated Kon Tiki, Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning. Apparently Bruckheimer was so impressed by this film it was an obvious choice!
Rumour has it that Orlando Bloom would like to return as Will Turner. This is now turning out to be more likely with a recent statement from Disney telling us “Will Turners story may not be over yet”! This raises the question whether Keira Knightley will appear in this film. Hopefully plot details will emerge sooner rather than later!
Another rumour that has been circling around for an awfully long time is the one that Pirates 5 and 6 will be shot back to back! There has been no confirmation on this rumour yet. But this seems less likely considering that the script for the Pirates 5 isn’t even finished yet!
Due to the current release of The Lone Ranger, the film has been moving very slowly and not many things have been happening because of how busy the team have been, but in the next few months many more details will hopefully emerge!
