The Big Teams Christmas Wishes: Arsenal
With Christmas just a few days away, kids around the world are posting their letters full of wishes to Santa. But they are not the only ones. With half of the season complete for some, football clubs around the world are have also drawn up their lists of presents they want from Santa. Let’s have look at what Arsenal could ask the Man in Red and White, according to what their season has brought them so far.
1. A place in the top 4: The Gunners haven’t had the season that they wished for. Win today loose tomorrow and draw the next day, Wenger’s men are definitely loosing out on some top 4 fun. So a place in the UEFA Champions League next season is definitely in Wenger‘s letter.
2. Keep Alexis fit: Alexis Sanchez has definitely been the man for Arsene Wenger this season. With 9 goals in 15 league appearance, there is no doubts that Wenger would wish for his main man not to get injured.
3. For everyone to rise up: Beside Alexis Sanchez, only Olivier Giroud and maybe Danny Welbeck have lived up to expectations and that one of the reason why the Gunners are so out of the title race. So present number 3 on Wenger’s list: ‘Please dear Santa, make all my players rise up to the challenge’.
4. Exorcise the injury demons: The Gunners have always had a strong romantic relationship with injuries. The London side usually has 3 or 4 players injured per season and that has often been used as an excuse as to why they never finish their season on a high. It might not be Santa’s territory but if the man can fit into a chiminea, then he might know a trick or two on how to get rid of demons. So even if Father Christmas has to contact Dean and Sam Winchestrer from Supernatural, Wenger will be hoping that the man from the North pole can come up with a perfect present to sort out his side’s injury issues.
5. Finish the season on a high, for once: Ever since the world can remember, Arsenal season has always ended in disappointing fashion. Getting kicked out of the Champions League and the title race has been a song that the Gunners have been singing for too long and this has to stop. So number 4 on the list: ‘Dear Santa, please let us finish our season on a high, for a change’.
