The Stone Roses and The Killers to rock V Festival 2012
The annual music festival held in England, V Festival, sponsored by Virgin Media, is back this summer for its seventeenth year with legendary rock icons to perform on stage. The Mancunian band, the Stone Roses, are to headline on Saturday August 18th at Hylands Park, Chemsford, and Sunday August 19th at Weston Park, Staffordshire, whilst the American band The Killers are headlining on Saturday at Weston Park and Sunday at Hylands Park.
The twin V Festivals line-up has announced the assistance of artists like Snow Patrol, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, James Morrison, Tom Jones, Keane, Ed Sheeran, David Guetta, Noah and the Whale, Ben Howard, Friendly Fires, plus 40 more artists to be announced across 4 stages.
These year’s performances promise to match last year’s big success of the V Festival with predominantly American artists like Eminem and Rihanna, Good Charlotte, Hanson and Bruno Mars that filled the stage with powerful tunes.
The Glee Club Comedy Test also returns this year after its huge success last summer, with performances of Justin Mooerhouse, Kevin McCarthy, Natan Caton, Gary Delay, John Fothergill, Doc Brown, and many more yet to be announced.
Lastly, V Style Luxury Camping will also be available this year to offer an extraordinary experience as the attendee’s accommodation needs will be seen to, so they can focus on enjoying the shows. Located at the back of the arena away from the main campsite, it offers a car park and entrance, apart from a private walkway to the main arena.
Fans have waited long to see The Killers on stage again; however, it is on sad times given the recent death of their saxophone player, Tommy Math. Anyhow, the US rockers have awoken enthusiasm and expectations from far and wide. Many are waiting to hear famous tunes like Mr Brightside, When You Were Young, Somebody told Me and All These Things that I’ve done. The band has been awarded with four NME Awards that include “Best International Band” in 2005, 2008 and 2009 and Best Video for “Bones” in 2006. As well, they have been nominated for seven Grammy Awards.
Since the band announced that they would take a short break in January 2010, their lead vocals Brandon Flowers released a solo album entitled Flamingo on September, 2010, which has been increasingly popular in the US and the UK. The video for the album’s first single, Crossfire, includes Charlize Theron saving Brandon Flowers one time after the other, and it became extremely popular on You Tube. Now they are back with all the electricity of their music.
It is not the first time The Killers and Snow Patrol play at V Festival. They have actually been together on stage before on the festival of 2009, but this time on the other side of the world, in Australia, in the stages of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Gold Coast. The Australian V Festival is a spin-off of the British V Festival, though since 2009 it is taking a break, and it is unknown when the aussie festival will be making a comeback.
