Video Games You Absolutely Need To Play Over The Holiday Season
With the holiday season just around the corner, it’s nearly time to kick back, relax, and enjoy a spot of gaming. After you’ve eaten the turkey (or your plant-based equivalent), you’ll hopefully have some time on your hands to do whatever the heck you want.
But what should you play this season? There are so many games to choose from it makes your head spin.
Cyberpunk 2077
You might argue that you don’t need a game depicting a dystopian fantasy when we already live in one. But there’s no ignoring the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 is the biggest release of the year – and one of the most controversial games ever made.
CD Projekt Red is famous for their triumph in the Witcher 3, perhaps the greatest fantasy game of all time. Now the brand has directed its attention towards making an RPG-style shooter with more detail than any other game available right now.
The scope of the game is enormous, which means you’ll have a lot to do. And the new gameplay features, choices, and AI make the game a novel experience, even for seasoned gamers. It’s worth a try.
Baldur’s Gate 3
The original Baldur’s Gate series was incredibly popular in the past. Gamers loved the Dungeons and Dragons feel of the genre.
Now Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for early access on Steam, updating the original game with modern graphics and design. The game allows you to gather your party and take them on a new adventure of the Forgotten Realms. You get completely lost in the gameplay as you struggle to achieve absolute power.
Just like slot games UK, it’s compelling. You always want to come back for more.
Humankind
Humankind is a strategy game where you bring a civilization out of the dark ages and rewrite history as you please. The game relies on an interesting intersection of culture, values, and deeds and actively encourages you to cause chaos.
Command And Conquer Remastered
The Command and Conquer series was massive in the 1990s and early 2000s. But since the hey-day of real-time strategy games, we haven’t heard much from the franchise. Earlier in the year, though, developer Petroglyph announced the release of a remastered version of the original game, offering all kinds of goodies and features.
The graphics are now vastly updated and no longer look grainy on modern screens. You can see the style of artwork the original developers wanted to achieve. The soundtrack is also fully remastered, with brand new guitar riffs and greatly upgraded sound quality. There are even new game modes and a complete overhaul of the multi-player experience. Playing as GDI or Brotherhood of Nod has never been so much fun. It’s well worth revisiting if you enjoyed the original.
Doom Eternal
The relaunch of the Doom series in 2016 was a big deal and something that reminded us of how much fun shooters were in the olden days. Doom Eternal is an even better game with incredible gameplay cycles and dynamics. It’s the most intense game you’ll play this year.
