Young People- Achieving your Goals and Dreams!
Young people today often believe they have to be realistic with their goals, that they can’t achieve their dreams because people tell them they can’t make it. The truth is that you can accomplish anything if you set your mind to it. If you are willing to work hard, stay determined and motivated then you can achieve whatever you want to achieve. Young people – this article will give you guidance on how and why you can be achieving your goals.
A big issue that young people face is finance. If you grow up with a family who have little money they seem to believe they can’t afford to go to college or university. However many colleges and universities actually offer bursaries for people who qualify. Bursaries by definition are “A scholarship to attend a college or university.” The purpose of bursaries is to allow people to attend the college/university regardless of their situation, some bursaries offer money towards travel costs for example. To receive a bursary you have to fall under specific category e.g. house income under a certain amount. So no matter what circumstances you are in, there are grants in place to help you because nobody should be deprived of any opportunity.
For young people today they look up to celebrities and think they can never make it or that celebrities have life so easy. The truth is at one time many of those same celebrities who seem to be living the high life, once had struggles of their own too. Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole has always said that she grew up on a council estate and is proud of her roots so she can show young people that it doesn’t matter where you grow up because you can succeed in whatever you want to. Hollywood A-lister Jennifer Aniston wasn’t always such a success either. Aniston revealed in an interview on ‘Inside the Actors Studio’ that she wasn’t always such a big success. Before her role of Rachel on TV show ‘Friends’, she had a variety of low-paid jobs e.g. waitress, bike messenger and even a telemarketer. Aniston is an example that you shouldn’t give up on your dreams, stay motivated and keep working and you will achieve your goals. [Watch the interview here]. Well known examples of people who achieved their goals regardless of their circumstances include Sir Alan Sugar, Simon Cowell and Sir Richard Branson; all of whom dropped out of college. The point is that just because they are earning a lot of money now and doing their dream job doesn’t mean it was always that way, they also had to do menial jobs and get paid very little before getting to where they are today.
“If you can imagine it,
you can achieve it;
If you can dream it,
you can become it.”
– William Arthur Ward
For all the young people who believe that they can’t achieve their dreams because of their circumstances and situations just know that it’s not the case. You can achieve anything you set your mind to!
